John Highfield was a coach here at Jenkintown High School in the 1940’s and early 1950’s. The award given in his name celebrates the Senior male athlete who displays Citizenship, Scholarship and Sportsmanship during their high school career. The award was first given out in 1957. A perpetual plaque of winners is in the gymnasium lobby.
Coaches nominate one (1) eligible senior from their respective teams. Those nominations are then voted upon by all varsity team coaches to determine the award winner.
