Haitian Orphans

Haitian Orphange Project

Sarah Ross, a former Jenkintown student and Penn State University graduate, has visited Haiti multiple times and has been inspired to make an impact in the struggling communities there. She has been motivated after living and working with unfortunate Haitian orphans to create a safe, sustainable community for them to grow and thrive. She has contacted the Jenkintown World Language Honors Society (WLHS) in order to raise funds to ultimately build this orphanage and start this amazing community. The WLHS will be collecting money daily from homerooms and will also have a bake sale towards the end of our fundraising campaign. If you would like to donate directly to Sarah Ross, she has a GoFundMe page. Www.gofundme.com/haitichildrenshome. All donations of any size are greatly appreciated and will be used to help reinvigorate the lives of many Haitian children. Thank you!

Grades 7 -12 Chromebook Policies & Procedures

Students in grades 7-12 will be taking their Chromebooks home this year each day. The district adopted a technology fee two years ago that helps us maintain the quality of the devices we provide the students and helps with minor repairs and damage to the machines. The fee also helps with the cost of purchasing new Chromebooks so that we can maintain our 1:1 environment in the middle/high school.

Students can bring a check in the amount of $50 payable to The School District of Jenkintown to picture day on August 31, 2017. Students who cannot attend picture day can bring the checks to the main office on the first day of school. Families who currently qualify for the Federal School Lunch Program will not need to pay the $50 technology fee. Any student or family wishing to have the Chromebook left in school throughout the year will not need to pay the $50 technology fee.

Although you received a copy of the district’s Acceptable Use Policy in your summer mailing, we have begun the process of placing more of our forms online so that parents and students can sign off on the forms without actually having to manually send them back. If you have yet to sign off on the Acceptable Use Policy and Chromebook Policy, please visit   https://goo.gl/tck3fT  to read and sign off on the policies.

We are very thankful to be able to offer this opportunity to our families and look forward to another great school year.

Respectfully,
