35 delegates from Jenkintown participated in the 2017 Junior Model UN at Temple University on Wednesday, May 17th.  The Junior Model UN, sponsored by The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, provides an opportunity for our students to become more culturally literate and to practice diplomacy.  This year’s topics included Climate Change and Preserving and Protecting Cultural Heritage.  Our students represented Ethiopia, Estonia, Cambodia, Tunisia, and Ecuador.  Jenkintown received 5 awards:  Olivia Pettit – Outstanding Position Paper (Protecting and Preserving Cultural Heritage: Committee II); Jessica Spindler – Outstanding Delegate (Protecting and Preserving Cultural Heritage:  Committee I); Sophie Pettit and Anthony Kostacos – Outstanding Delegation HM (Tunisia Protecting and Preserving Cultural Heritage:  Committee II); Declan Beauchamp – Outstanding Delegate HM (Climate Change:  Committee II); Sophie Pettit – Oustanding Traditional Dress.  In addition to the students recognized by the above awards Emily Munson and Alexandra Byler had their resolution chosen to be debated by their committee.
