Notice of Intent to Adopt a Preliminary Budget

NOTICE is given that the Board of School Directors of the School District of Jenkintown intends to adopt a Preliminary Budget for the 2017-18 fiscal year at the public meeting scheduled for Monday, February 13, 2017 at 7:00 PM in the Community Room at 325 Highland Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046. The Proposed Preliminary Budget is available for inspection and copying at the School District Administrative Offices, 325 Highland Avenue, Jenkintown, PA 19046.

Notice of Application for Exceptions Under Act 1

The Board of School Directors of the School District of Jenkintown hereby gives the following NOTICE that the School District intends to apply to the Pennsylvania Department of Education for one or more exceptions allowing the School District to raise property taxes by a percentage greater than the Index published by the Pennsylvania Department of Education pursuant to Act 1 of 2006 (“Act 1”).  Special circumstances covered by one or more Act 1 exceptions require a tax rate percentage increase above the Index in order to balance the School District budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.  This tax increase is required to provide a quality education program as reflected in the School District Preliminary Budget.

Jenkintown Thon 2017

Jenkintown Middle/High School is partnering with the Four Diamonds organization to bring you our first Dance Marathon in school history!  This Mini-THON®, inspired by Penn State’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON), is a 6 hour event sponsored by the j-town community and will include activities, contests, food, and fun for the school and provides the opportunity to raise money through Four Diamonds to help support Pediatric Cancer Treatment.  You can sign up and donate to this event here: http://fourdiamonds.donordrive.com/event/jmhs17/

Please register for the event by Friday, January 27th.  Donations are accepted now through the event which is scheduled for Friday, February 17th from 9:00-3:00 in the High School Gymnasium.  A minimum donation of $50 is required to attend the event and a $100 donation to get your very own grade level T-Shirt.  Our goal is to raise $10,000!

Board Presentation from GKO Architects

The following presentation was given at the January School Board Meeting on January 23, 2017. The presentation was given by Kevin Godshall from GKO Architects. This is the first draft of the proposed construction project scheduled for this summer. The project includes a redesign of the MS/HS Library/Media Center, new MS/HS faculty room, and two new classrooms in the elementary school.

Let Girls Learn Fundraiser

Dear Friends, Family, and Community Members:

Thanks to you, we raised over 3,000 dollars this year for The 7th Grader Fundraiser “Let Girls Learn.” In the past three years, the middle school has raised almost 8,000 for equal education and veterans’ rights.  Thank you for coming together as a community to help others and support such important causes.
Please see the attached letter to view “thank yous” from all the 7th graders.
On January 6th, let’s have our community come together for the rights of women and girls. Please wear your shirt and join our challenge.  Write a letter, email, or text to a girl or woman in your life encouraging them to be the best they can be.  Let January 6th be the day of the girl!

2016 Delaware Valley Consortium for Equity and Excellence Leadership Conference

We are so happy and proud that Jenkintown High School students Aviv Jackson, Justin Biggs, Gabby Jackmon, Yusra Ali, Isabella Kennebrae, Lauren Biggs, Corren Kennebrae, Joshua Jackson, and Jamail Khan are representing our school at the 2016 Delaware Valley Consortium for Equity and Excellence Leadership Conference that is being held today at the University of Pennsylvania.
