In a momentous event on Monday, January 22, 2024, the Jenkintown Library opened its doors to unveil a treasure trove of local history essays penned by students from Mr. Chittick’s Class back in 1976. Mr. Roller, Dr. Takacs, Ben Bergman (Jenkintown 150th), Marion Rosenbaum (Local Historian), and Nina Meister (Jenkintown Library Director) were there for the unsealing. The occasion marked a significant chapter in Jenkintown’s rich history, aligning with the town’s 150th-anniversary celebration.

The essays, carefully preserved for nearly five decades, provided a captivating glimpse into the perspectives and insights of student lives in 1976. The event served as a reminder of the importance of understanding and appreciating Jenkintown’s history as the town moves forward. It emphasized the role of historical preservation in fostering a sense of identity and community pride.

As these essays were brought into the light, they celebrated the past and sparked renewed interest in documenting and preserving the stories that define Jenkintown’s unique character.
